Role Overview

As the Environmental Engineering Specialist (22-month contract) you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining Environmental Management Systems (EMS) that focus on compliance, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) performance, Environmental Risk and developing opportunities to achieve Toyota’s Challenge 2050. Your clear communication skills and a team-first mentality will allow you to work effectively with various TMMC team members on a variety of tasks and projects.
 

Position Summary

  • Ensure Environmental Legal Requirements are met (CEPA, Ontario EPA, OWRA, TDGA)
  • Maintain, approve and audit ISO14001 and Environmental Systems
  • Communicate, train and support shops in the implementation of EMS requirements
  • Prepare monthly reports for KPIs (VOC emissions, Energy, Water, Waste), identify abnormalities, support troubleshooting and implementation of countermeasures
  • Oversee activities to achieve KPI targets set out for the fiscal year
  • Review new projects and share best practices for potential environmental impacts with a focus on compliance, KPI performance, and environmental risk
  • Lead Environmental System improvement projects for shops
  • Conduct monthly meetings with shop managers to gain feedback on the shop status to their Environmental KPIs and activities.
  • Lead environmental internal and external communications
  • Lead capital investment projects in your assigned area and support all aspects of execution
  • Audit construction areas
  • Coordinate contractor support for project activities

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical or Civil)
  • 2 to 3 years related work experience, co-op experience will be considered
  • Self-motivated, independent worker with strong organizational skills, strong project management skills, the ability to effectively manage time and multiple projects appropriately
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation skills
  • Advanced MS Office Excel skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulations, working knowledge of ISO14001, experience in statistical data analysis and comfortable with Engineering Calculations
  • Proven hands on problem solving in cross functional teams
  • Day Shift, and overtime support as required
  • Valid driver’s license (min. G2)
  • Periodic domestic and international travel as required
  • Must be flexible to work in Cambridge and/or Woodstock
