Role Overview 

As a Total Rewards, Pension Analyst at TMMC, your excellent customer service skills are paramount to making our Team Members feel comfortable in asking subjective questions to gain a better understanding of the Company Benefits in order to make an educated decision. The Pension Analyst will be responsible for clearly communicating and guiding employees to the appropriate resources to obtain accurate information related to the company pension plans. Your attention to detail is vital to ensure that the pension plans are processed in accordance with the company and government rules and regulations.  


What you’ll be doing

  • Support pension plan governance committee and subcommittee meetings and activities 
  • Ensure that the pension plan is administered in accordance with the Pension Benefits Act (PBA), the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) and the terms of the pension plan 
  • Support Team Members as they approach retirement by 
    • explaining various retirement options (such as monthly pension and commuted value options) 
    • assisting Team Members to generate individual retirement estimates 
    • assist Team Members as they complete all appropriate forms 
  • Support pension plan governance committee and subcommittee meetings and activities 
  • Ensure that plan member requests are completed by the third-party plan administrator, and that the information is accurate, complete, and provided within legislative timeframes 
  • Act as the main contact in Human Resources for Pension enquires 
  • Support other analyst(s) in the pension area 
  • Support pension initiatives and system changes 
  • Support the design and implementation of pension communication strategy 

 

Desired Skills and Experiences 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business, Economics, Statistics, Finance or equivalent degree/diploma is required 
  • Possess extensive knowledge of defined contribution and defined benefit pension programs 
  • Minimum 3-5 years proven work experience in strategic planning and data analysis is required 
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential 
  • An aptitude for working with numbers 
  • Some actuarial experience would be advantageous 
  • Possess skills to identify problems and bring solutions to problems 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong project management skills – possess strong knowledge in systems development and process capability  
  • Comfortable in presenting and interacting with all levels of the organization 
  • High accuracy and attention to detail is critical, as work is of a highly sensitive and confidential nature 
  • Highly motivated self-initiator 
  • Provide time management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills to meet specific deadlines 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment 
  • Previous experience working with a pension plan in a large organization would be an asset 
  • Possible travel within North America as well as Overseas (less than 5% per year) 
  • Must be flexible to work in Cambridge and/or Woodstock plant locations
