As a Waste Management Analyst at TMMC, you will oversee the daily operations of the on-site waste management vendors.  Your responsibilities will include managing the vendor contracts and budgets as well as reporting on Waste Management Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).  This position offers the opportunity to lead the waste management program at TMMC.


What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and manage annual budget of over $3M in vendor contracts
  • Oversee daily operations of on-site waste management vendors
  • Liaise with all shops to support their waste management and waste reduction initiatives
  • Support recycling requests and manage waste segregation issues
  • Manage donation programs
  • Set waste classifications for subject waste according to Ontario Regulation 347 and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act (TDGA)
  • Conduct monthly waste calculations and prepare reports on shop waste KPIs 
  • Coordinate hazardous waste shipments and process required regulatory paperwork
  • Conduct audits of production shops and external vendors to verify their operations are compliant with government, ISO14001 and TMMC standards


Desired Skills and Experiences

  • College Diploma in Business, Mathematics, Engineering, Science or equivalent work experience is required; relevant Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • New graduate with related experience, to 1 year of post-graduate relevant work experience is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with multi-tasking and prioritization skills to meet specific deadlines
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Proven aptitude for working with numbers: high accuracy and attention to detail is critical
  • Proven problem identification and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Operational knowledge of key waste management equipment (bailers, sumps, storage racks, mobile equipment etc.) is preferred
  • Environmental Science education or background is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and waste management regulations (Ontario Regulation 347, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act) is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ISO14001 standard is an asset
  • Willing to support daily and weekend overtime requirements as needed
  • Possible travel to USA and Japan
  • Must be flexible to work in Cambridge and/or Woodstock
  • Regular travel between plants is required (valid G2 drivers license is required)
