This job is based in Cambridge.

Role Overview

As the Manufacturing Engineering - Stamping, you will be responsible for project implementation, Key Performance Indicator achievement (ergonomics, quality output, process efficiency/cycle time improvements) and resolving shop problems through root cause analysis and Toyota Business Practice (TBP) problem solving.  Your clear communication skills and cross functional team approach will allow you to work effectively with TMMC team members in continuous improvement.  In this role you will provide technical guidance and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality to ensure performance targets are achieved for your assigned process area.

What you’ll be doing

  • Strengthen KPI achievement through data-driven analysis with emphasis on safety adherence, quality improvements, cost reduction, throughput increase and efficient manufacturing processes
  • Support capital investment projects and manage all aspects of implementation (budget, developing scope and equipment/process specifications, bid management, procurement, installation, integration, commissioning, and buyoff)
  • Identify bottlenecks in blanking, laser welding, stamping processes to Countermeasure, Kaizen, and Yokoten
  • Determine process/equipment necessary conditions to establish capable process
  • Support quality outflow investigations, analysis and recurrence prevention
  • Support daily cycle time improvements through process improvements, downtime reduction, etc
  • Support daily operation cost competitiveness through automation, repairs/maintenance, scrap reduction, etc
  • Support cross-functional teams to identify root cause and countermeasure quality and productivity issues
  • Maintain management systems to ensure standardization and compliance; ensure equipment and systems comply with relevant standards and legislation

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering other technical degree, or comparable education and experience is required (Electrical or Controls education is preferred)
  • Minimum of 1– 3 years of practical engineering experience (high-volume manufacturing experience is preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Stamping process, including equipment and automation
  • Strong project management skills and demonstrated capability to lead without authority (ex. Capital investment projects, Takt/Minor/Model/Process changes, department coordination)
  • Experience leading equipment breakdown troubleshooting, breakdown recurrence prevention and 5-why analysis    
  • Experience leading equipment installation and refurbishment including safety risk assessment, equipment design and specification, Pre-start Health and Safety Review (PSHSR) and equipment buyoff and commissioning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to support daily and weekend overtime requirements as needed
  • Possible travel to the USA and Japan (1-2 times/year)
  • Must be flexible to work in Cambridge and/or Woodstock

Additional Preferred Qualifications (may be used for interview selection):

  • PLC / HMI programming knowledge (ControlLogix, Mitsubishi, Toyopuc, Pro-face preferred)
  • Motor Drive / VFD programming knowledge (Mitsubishi, Yaskawa preferred)
  • Safety PLC programming, and safety circuit knowledge (Siemens, AB GuardLogix preferred)
  • SCADA system knowledge (AVEVA /Indusoft preferred)
  • Knowledge of Power BI for data visualization
