Purchasing Specialist

As a Purchasing Specialist, you will play an integral role in TMMC’s procurement activities. Developing sourcing strategies, negotiation, problem solving, relationship management, and continuous improvement are skills that will make you successful in this role.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Process requisitions request for quotations, purchase orders, price reconciliation, and competitive bids.
  • Negotiate annual contract renewals for products and services
  • Work with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to identify and resolve problem situations (internal and external)
  • Processing of all interface data(prices, pilot orders, lump-sum payments, vendor master information, vendor tooling, etc.)
  • Provide support to suppliers on purchase order discrepancy
  • Process and review retroactive price changes and obtain approval for payment/receipt resulting from changes
  • Source spare parts from existing vendors
  • Provide continuous improvement and cost reduction activity
  • Periodic travel to local vendors is expected

 

 

Desired Skills and Experiences

  • Good working knowledge of the procurement processes in an enterprise systems environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills and ability to build relationships
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and capability in other Microsoft products (Access, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data and cross-reference various sources of information
  • Ability to analyze data, summarize and present findings efficiently
  • Ability to bring new ideas to the job by utilizing current levels of information technology
  • Ability to implement process improvements and cost reduction activities.
  • Excellent project management skills to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience an asset, preferably with knowledge of quoting/costing
  • Experience with SAP would be a strong asset, specifically purchasing functions
  • May be required to support local travel and occasional International and U.S.A. travel. Must be legally eligible to enter the USA
  • Must be able to support day shifts with occasional overtime as required
  • Must be flexible to work in Cambridge/Woodstock

 

EDUCATION

  • College Diploma/University Degree in business or a graduate of the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada
