Role Overview

As a Purchasing Analyst, you will provide procurement support to multiple departments at TMMC and play an integral role in TMMC’s procurement activities. Developing sourcing strategies, negotiation, problem solving, relationship management, and continuous improvement are skills that will make you successful in this role.
 

What you’ll be doing

  • Process requisitions, issuance of purchase orders, price reconciliation, and service contracts
  • Support departmental reporting for internal KPIs and external vendor performance
  • Negotiate new contracts and renewals for products and services
  • Work with end users to define requirements and specifications
  • Co-ordinate bid meetings for various projects
  • Resolve commercial issues for procurement activities
  • Investigate and implement sourcing of new products as well as re-sourcing existing products including vendor rationalization where appropriate
  • Identify new suppliers, assess supplier’s competitiveness on cost, and audit their quality assurance processes and procedures
  • Support strategies and systems to control purchasing procedures
  • Provide continuous improvement on cost control and cost reduction
  • Work with other Toyota affiliates to achieve efficiencies and standardize where possible


Desired Skills and Experiences

  • University Degree or College Diploma in business or engineering, Diploma in Procurement and Supply Management from the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada or equivalent degree/diploma is required
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience is required, preference for experience working in the automotive industry, manufacturing or high-speed production
  • Strong working knowledge of the procurement processes and experience in an enterprise systems environment
  • General understanding of legal contractual concepts, ability to work with Toyota legal and outside counsel
  • Strong written and oral communication and customer service skills
  • Good presentation skills – ability to present to senior executives both internally and externally (vendors)
  • Strong negotiation skills to process complex purchasing agreements, prices, delivery for goods and service
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Proven record in process improvements and cost reduction activities
  • Excellent project management skills to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio) and PowerBI
  • Experience in SAP considered an asset
  • Willing to support daily and weekend overtime requirements as needed
  • Possible local travel and occasional travel to the US
  • Must be flexible to work in Cambridge and/or Woodstock

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good data analytics, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Experience with design & creation of PowerBI reports and visual representation of data
